Health authorities at both European and international level have recently tightened regulations aimed at limiting the concentration of PFAS in drinking water.
The European Parliament and the Council of the European Union have imposed new requirements for the analysis of per- and polyfluoroalkylated substances (PFAS) in water intended for human consumption (5813/20). However, some of the specific perfluoroalkylsulfonates required by the directive were not yet commercially available.
PFAS monitoring requires sophisticated and precise analytical tools, in order to detect the often very low concentrations of PFAS in water samples. This represents a technological challenge, but is essential to protect public health and the environment.
In response to this gap, Wellington Laboratories have successfully synthesized, purified and characterized two certified reference standards for the required compounds: sodium perfluoro-1-undecanesulfonate (L-PFUdS) and sodium perfluoro-1-tridecanesulfonate (L-PFTrDS).

EU-5813-NSS: the right mixture for PFAS analysis in water
