WELLINGTON Laboratories Reference Standards

Worldwide recognition for WELLINGTON Laboratories

Wellington Laboratories are based in Guelph, Canada. They are internationally recognised as one of the most reliable manufacturers of certified reference standards certified reference standards for detecting and quantifying trace organic compounds in our environment.

Since the 1980s, they have developed specific expertise in creating certified reference standards to identify compounds whose toxicity was little known. For example, dioxins, furans, PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) and other emerging contaminants.

Their partnership with BCP Instruments was initiated early in their career and is testament to their commitment to providing quality standards on an international scale. BCP Instruments is now the exclusive distributor for France and Belgium of the entire range of reference standards from Wellington Laboratories.

Over time, the range of standards has expanded to include many native and marked compounds. This is the case forflame retardants, halogenated compounds, PBDEs (polybrominated diphenyl ethers) and PBBs (polybrominated biphenyls). More recently, PFASs (per- and polyfluoroalkylated substances) have undergone significant development. The scientific community is taking a very close interest in these highly persistent pollutants, which have become a major global concern.

Quality

The company places a strong emphasis on research and development, with a team of experienced scientists dedicated to innovation and continuous product improvement. Highly qualified staff and collective expertise are guarantees of quality, underlined by the three ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 accreditations obtained by Wellington Laboratories.

These accreditations testify to Wellington Laboratories’ commitment to excellence and quality.

  • ISO 9001 is an international standard that defines the criteria for a quality management system.
  • ISO/IEC 17025 specifies the general requirements for competence to carry out tests and/or calibrations, including sampling. It covers tests and calibrations carried out using standardised methods, non-standardised methods and methods developed by the laboratory.
  • Finally, ISO 17034 specifies the general requirements for the competence and consistent performance of reference material producers.

In short, Wellington Laboratories are helping to protect our environment by developing solutions to help identify and understand potentially harmful compounds present in trace amounts in our environment. They continue to innovate and develop new standards to meet the changing needs of the scientific and environmental community. Their commitment to quality and excellence is an example to other companies in the sector.
