PBDEs & PBBs, polybrominated diphenyl ethers & polybrominated biphenyls

See Wellington catalogue

PBDEs are mixtures of several more or less brominated chemical compounds, produced industrially. They are used as flame retardants in many applications.

PBDEs, mixtures of brominated congeners, are mainly used as flame retardants in resins, foams, plastics and upholstery. Not only are these contaminants highly persistent in the environment, they are also volatile and fat-soluble.

These are persistent organic pollutants (POPs) that bioaccumulate in organisms, so they contaminate the environment long after they have been destroyed.

Wellington has prepared individual and/or labeled solutions as well as calibration sets and mixtures containing hydroxy-PBDEs, methoxy-PBDEs and PBBs.
