Wellington enhances its range of PFAS mixtures: PFAS-3PAR & MPFAS-3ES.

Wellington Laboratories, pioneers in the preparation of mixes for your analyses, have recently launched two new mixes for the detection and analysis of PFAS: PFAS-3PAR and MPFAS-3ES.

PFAS: a threat to human health and the environment

The harmful impacts of exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on human health and the environment led to the recognition of 3 PFAS under the Stockholm Convention: perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctanesulphonic acid (PFOS) and perfluorohexanesulphonic acid (PFHxS), as well as their salts and isomers. As a result, many countries have begun to regulate these chemicals by restricting or banning their manufacture, import and/or use.

Innovations from Wellington Laboratories

In response to your requests, Wellington Laboratories have developed the PFAS-3PAR mixture, a blend of certified references containing the linear isomers of these three compounds. This solution is essential for ensuring the accuracy of environmental analyses and supporting regulatory compliance efforts. In addition, Wellington Laboratories has prepared the complementary C13-marked mix MPFAS-3ES, enabling precise quantification and the development of highly reliable analytical methods.

PFAS-3PAR

The PFAS-3PAR mixture is distinguished by its specific composition, optimised for the analysis of certain PFAS groups in various samples.

The mixture includes compounds commonly detected in drinking water systems, soils and sediments, and meets the growing need for comprehensive and accurate analysis of PFAS in the environment.

MPFAS-3ES

The second proposed mixture, MPFAS-3ES, is designed for even more specialised analyses, such as those of short-chain PFASs, which are generally more difficult to detect but no less of a concern for the environment and human health.

Its formulation captures these compounds in low concentrations while maintaining high detection sensitivity.

Wellington’s commitment to effective PFAS management

Wellington Laboratories’ new PFAS-3PAR and MPFAS-3ES mixtures enhance the accuracy and reliability of PFAS analyses, meeting critical needs in the field of environmental safety. By facilitating the identification of these ‘eternal chemicals’, they contribute to global efforts to reduce the risks associated with PFAS, providing researchers and regulators with valuable tools in the fight against persistent PFAS pollution.

Wellington Laboratories are committed to developing new solutions – both individual and in mixtures – to meet global regulatory requirements. This ongoing commitment is crucial in helping scientists and regulators to effectively manage PFAS contamination.
