Native perfluorooctanesulfonamidoacetic acids (FOSAA) are chemical substances belonging to the family of per- and polyfluoroalkylated substances ( PFAS). and polyfluoroalkylated substances (PFAS). More specifically, FOSAAs arederivatives of FASAs (PFOS precursors), as are FOSE, FOSE phosphates and PFOSE acrylate ester.
They are commonly found in the manufacture of water- and stain-resistant fabrics and carpets.
FOSAA, in particular, are compounds that have been studied for their presence in the environment and their potential effects on human health. They are included in the Stockholm Convention ‘ s list of persistent organic pollutants (POPs).
